Water heaters account for a good amount of our calls for water restoration in Charlotte nationwide this is pretty much the same for water mitigation companies. This is because when a water heater goes bad, they are holding a large amount of water and the way it fails can determine if the water remains inside or creates a disaster with water damage in the surrounding areas of the home. With the risk of water damage in mind a failing water heater is pretty much a guarantee for most homeowners at some point and time and this morning was not any different. Early this morning we received a call from a customer in the university area of Charlotte due to a leaking water heater spraying water into the kitchen causing water damage to the entire first floor of the home. The water heater itself was not in bad shape but the inlet pipe appeared to have rusted before the shutoff valve which meant there was no way to turn the water off to the water heater unless water was turned off at the main. To minimize the amount of water damage we tried to explain to the customer how to turn the water off at the meter before we arrived but rightfully so the customer was hysterical and did not know what to do. When we arrived the first thing, we did was turn off the water to the house and started with water damage cleanup.

At first the customer was very panicked and tried her best to stop the water instinctively she turned off the valve but because of the age of the refrigerator and how it was connected the shut off valve was stuck and water just kept coming in without a way to stop it. After looking on line for water restoration company is and Charlotte and reaching out to see if we were available to come and help one of the things that was of extreme concern for us and for the client was the fact that the water was still coming in while we were on the phone with her because of this we tried to give her advice on how to turn the water off from the meter to prevent further water damage happening to her house. Unfortunately she was not able to turn it off and by the time we arrived about 20 to 30 minutes after she initially called there was a substantial amount of more water damage for us to clean up.

We received a call for water restoration in Charlotte from a customer in the East Charlotte area of Plott Rd. The customer woke up this morning to find water slowly flowing into his living room along with the entire kitchen saturated with water damage in the entire area. Often times when responding to calls for water damage cleanup in the Charlotte area we come across customers that find their selves in the middle of a water damage crisis because of repairs they made at the home involving plumbing that was not correctly addressed and that is the case in today’s call for water mitigation services. The customer stated he installed a new faucet on his kitchen sink the night before and somehow the pipe came loose sending water everywhere throughout the night resulting in water damaged materials to the entire kitchen and portions of the living room and dining room in need of water extraction and repairs. As we investigated the cause and started the demo process the first thing we did was turn off the water at the main after that we quickly relieved the cause of the water damage was very obvious as the pipe did not appear to be firm on the faucet.
