Often times when responding to calls for water damage cleanup in the Charlotte area we come across customers that find their selves in the middle of a water damage crisis because of repairs they made at the home involving plumbing that was not correctly addressed and that is the case in today’s call for water mitigation services. The customer stated he installed a new faucet on his kitchen sink the night before and somehow the pipe came loose sending water everywhere throughout the night resulting in water damaged materials to the entire kitchen and portions of the living room and dining room in need of water extraction and repairs. • Bathroom Sink Overflow Floods Charlotte Home on Knollwood Rd

Water restoration in Charlotte is no different when it comes to causes of water damage clean up calls in other cities. When we answer calls for emergency water mitigation countless times a customer states the reason for the loss was due to a sink overflow because they went to another room briefly or left the home and forgot the water was running. This is the cause of our water restoration call this morning. After getting ready for church this morning the homeowner forgot to turn the water off after brushing his teeth and to make things worst the drain in his sink is very slow due to a build up of hair from his wife. This resulted in the sink overflowing flooding the bathroom and bedroom on the top floor and causing water damage to the living room and dining room area of the home below.

  • Broken Pipe in Wall at South Charlotte Condo

We received a call this morning for water damage cleanup in Charlotte from a customer that was badly in need of the water mitigation company to clean up the water he noticed throughout his first floor of his home after he awoke this morning. After arriving to provide water restoration services one of the first things that we typically do is we look for the source of the water damage and try to  follow the path of the water damage to make sure that we are definitely at the source of the water damage. One of the first things we noticed was a lot of peeling at the baseboard of one of the walls though all of the baseboards were damaged this one wall had a lot of healing from it because that was the wall that the water was coming from so we got to work turned off the water at the main and begin the water extraction process and it took us about an hour to finish extracting the water.  As we got around to the most complex part of water damage restoration the demo portion we started out by removing the baseboards in cutting out the drywall in the area that we felt was the source and we were exactly correct after we opened up the drywall you could see a gas inside of the pipe that was inside of the wall typically when we enter calls for water mitigation we do not see holes in pipes that big but it appeared that this hole in the pipe was something that the homeowner causeed the night before when hanging photos on the wall.

  • Water Heater Fails Flooding Charlotte Home

Customer called this afternoon for water restoration in Charlotte due to a failed water heater. The customer stated once he returned home from work they noticed water coming from under the garage door pouring down the driveway which was puzzling to them because they do not have a sprinkler and they were wondering where did water come from. After walking inside they realize the water heater in the utility closet was the cause of the water damage that they are noticing throughout the house. As he walked around he realize that there was a significant amount of water damage to the floors in the kitchen and the hallway of the house along with multiple areas of saturated drywall and the untility closet.  After panicking for sure. The first thing they did before looking for a water mitigation company would turn the water off at the mainline the husband grabbed a pair of pliers and ran to the water meter to stop the water from coming in after a few seconds of trying to turn it he was successful in turning off the water in the house which stops the continuation of the water damage that was already taking place. Once we arrived we went straight to the water extraction and extracted the water for about an hour in the kitchen, garage, and utility room. After we finish the extraction we went forward with the rest of the water damage cleanup process by demoing the areas of the house that require demolition after that we set up the fans in the dehumidifiers and according to the water damage readings we would only need to dry the house for three days.
