This morning we got a call from a customer concerned about water damage in their living room. After talking with the customer, he said for weeks he noticed the drywall was getting weaker in a certain area of the living room. He also noticed black spots on the wall which finally pushed him to give us a call as he suspected it was water damage. After arriving we quickly realized he should have reached out to a plumber to fix the pipe in his wall. As a water restoration company our main focus is to clean up water damage from flooded homes in Charlotte not pipes.

Bottom Floor Sewer Backup
For us at Property Restoration Inc. we find many circumstances that lead to calls for water damage clean up in Charlotte. Lat week primary call for service was a large sewer back up as a home in the Northlake area of Charlotte. At Property Restoration Inc on average when we meet our water damage customers at their homes it is their first time learning about water restoration and the dangers of untreated water damage. That was the case with one of our service calls in the Southend neighborhood of Charlotte this afternoon. The home owner was washing cloths this morning when the supply hose started leaking. Naturally she thought she can get up all the water herself but after a few hours of trying to dry the water with towels, blankets, and everything else you can imagine she notice how far the water traveled under the floor and realized how hard it can be to tackle water damage.

Often we teach our children to close the door after coming inside but as a technician for water restoration in Charlotte I add we should teach our children is to turn of the water after washing their hands. That was the cause of a water damage call we had today in east Charlotte. After washing his hands our customer’s son did not turn off the water and went downstairs to eat. A few minutes later he noticed water coming down the ceiling in the kitchen. Immediately our client rushed upstairs to turn off the water. Shortly after we arrived to dry out the affected areas.

Water Overflow in South Charlotte
Water overflows are a common cause of water damage This morning we got a call for water restoration services to clean up the entire first floor of a home off Mckee rd. in Charlotte. The home owner woke up this morning to get the kids ready for school and realized they did not turn off the water in the downstairs bathroom after washing the kids hands after dinner. For almost 8 hours the water flowed freely creating an enormous amount of water damage soaking their entire first floor, the walls, and furniture of their home. When she realized what was happing water was flowing out of the front door.

Water Damage Repair in Charlotte South Park
In the Charlotte water restoration business we see our fair share of causes for water damage from aging appliances, to accidental overflows and more but one of today’s calls was because of another common reason for emergency water damage repairs the DIY guy. We were called out to clean up a large amount of water at a home in the South Park area of Charlotte because of a broken supply line. After investigating the cause it came to our attention that the homeowner replaced his garbage disposal recently and in the process he bump the supply line to his faucet loosening it. For about an hour the water flowed from under the sink into the kitchen and into the living room. Once discovered the homeowner was clueless to where the water was coming from and just knew he had to call a water restoration company as soon as possible. Luckily he was in the right mindset to turn off the main line from outside to prevent further water damage

Yesterday it was a washing machine and today it was the dish washer. The rain finally stopped and of the 6 water damage clean up calls since yesterday 4 where related to the rain and 2 where typical broken hose and faucet overflow. The service call I will focus on today was from a broken cold water line to the washing machine on a house in the University area of Charlotte. Washing machines are brutal for this type of call and on average we probably get at least 1 call a week related to water damage repairs from washing machine failures. Storm Related Water Damage in Charlotte
Because of the weather this has been a very busy day for Charlotte water damage clean-up services. It has rained for over 24 hours and according to the weather report it may not stop for another 12 hours or longer. So far we received 2 calls for water restoration services one of the calls was from a broken washing machine hose on the second floor and the other 2 calls where both storm related. One customer has a flooded basement that is currently in the drying process and the other customer has water damage to her floors because rain water backed up into her house going under the door because of the slope in her driveway.
