Water damage cleanup is such a common need for businesses and homeowners that the need for water restoration services even strikes those in the water mitigation industry personally. One of our lead water techs was washing cloths last night when during the drain spin cycle he heard a large noise coming from his pipes and suddenly heard water coming up from the tub and up from his toilet. All of a sudden he watched water rushing towards the hallway and jumped into action. Because of his experience by stopping the washing machine from draining and opening the clean out on the side of his house he was able to stop it before water damage can set in by making it retreat to the outside. After some investigation the following morning the reason water backed up into his home was because of tree root blockage in his mainline.

The Reason for Water Restoration
In our profession of water restoration and water damage clean up so often we are asked about 3 things on a regular basis. The first thing customer ask is if they can clean up the water damage there self or why does it cost so much for water damage repair and will they have to pay, the other question we often hear is could they just let water damage evaporate and dry naturally instead of calling a water restoration company?
As a water damage repair and restoration company in Charlotte one of the things we have to stress to customers is the potential for secondary damage and mold. This is because of our understanding of psychrometry which is basically the study of water and air pressure and humidity. As a water restoration technician we understand psychrometry the rules of psychrometry and know that even if you can’t see water or feel water it can still be present behind the walls, within materials, and in the air which can result in more damage to your property if not dried properly.

Water Damage Repair in Charlotte South Park
In the Charlotte water restoration business we see our fair share of causes for water damage from aging appliances, to accidental overflows and more but one of today’s calls was because of another common reason for emergency water damage repairs the DIY guy. We were called out to clean up a large amount of water at a home in the South Park area of Charlotte because of a broken supply line. After investigating the cause it came to our attention that the homeowner replaced his garbage disposal recently and in the process he bump the supply line to his faucet loosening it. For about an hour the water flowed from under the sink into the kitchen and into the living room. Once discovered the homeowner was clueless to where the water was coming from and just knew he had to call a water restoration company as soon as possible. Luckily he was in the right mindset to turn off the main line from outside to prevent further water damage

Dish Washer Flood in Rock Hill
Yesterday it was a washing machine and today it was the dish washer. Water damage repair is caused by many different reason but most importantly when it happens contacting a water restoration company is one of the most important things you could do. Like most people we wash our dishes at night and start the dishwasher before we go to sleep and that is exactly when our customer did last night only to see the results of a flooded kitchen early in the morning.

University Water Damage Clean Up in Charlotte
The rain finally stopped and of the 6 water damage clean up calls since yesterday 4 where related to the rain and 2 where typical broken hose and faucet overflow. The service call I will focus on today was from a broken cold water line to the washing machine on a house in the University area of Charlotte. Washing machines are brutal for this type of call and on average we probably get at least 1 call a week related to water damage repairs from washing machine failures. As a water restoration expert in Charlotte I would recommend following the maintenance procedures related to the type of washing machine you own.

Storm Related Water Damage in Charlotte
Because of the weather this has been a very busy day for Charlotte water damage clean-up services. It has rained for over 24 hours and according to the weather report it may not stop for another 12 hours or longer. So far we received 2 calls for water restoration services one of the calls was from a broken washing machine hose on the second floor and the other 2 calls where both storm related. One customer has a flooded basement that is currently in the drying process and the other customer has water damage to her floors because rain water backed up into her house going under the door because of the slope in her driveway.

Water Heater Location Equals Restoration and More Damage
Recently we did an article that referenced how the design of your home can lead to possible water damage or make the need of a water restoration clean up a part of your near future. This is something we encountered this afternoon during a service call to clean up water damage in Charlotte. The home had a hot water tank leak which can happen from time to time especially as the water heaters age but the main problem that caused the damage to spread further was the location of the water heater. It was located in the attic and flooded the first and second floor caving the ceilings and walls.
