As a Charlotte water mitigation company, we would agree with many others in the restoration industry that a sewer backup is one of the worst types of calls to get for water damage cleanup services for a customer. The level of water damage due to category 3 water from a backup can be devastating for a homeowner mainly because of the amount of demo that is involved in it. We had a call for a Sewer backup in at a Charlotte home on Sharon Rd and the customer wanted us to save as much of the carpet as possible which is not possible with category 3 water damage. We had to explain that the wall paper, drywall, carpet and pad touched by the water damage from the sewer backup had to be disposed of and she did not understand why we could not just clean it. Like most water damage calls it was something that took a little understanding for the customer but she allowed us to do our job as needed.
